Dearest You

It’s been a long year

But keep trying

That’s the most important thing you can learn

Sometimes, it’s all about making the effort.

I know, it gets difficult

It’s tough.

You pick up the pen, and ink refuses to flow

Your mind gives up on your heart. You feel like your words have died, and there’s no way for you to resurrect them.

Your mind lies.

This ink, it flows in your veins.

Not freely, not always. There will be times when it congeals, coagulating, clogging.

When you feel like you just might have to choke it out. Do it. Express your violence.

I know what rages within. Complacency is a disease.

It starts at your fingertips. Don’t let it spread.

It’s shockingly insidious.

Sometimes, the toughest battle to fight is with yourself. Sometimes, waging war is a step towards your resurrection. Your mind is a battlefield, your thoughts are weapons, your ideas are bullets and your emotions are gun powder.

But, you are all you need, Annie. You are more than enough for yourself. Your youth is yours.
